Thoughts about our work


Imaculata Kurniasanti
Expert on women and children of left behind families of migrants. She has a master’s degree in women’s and gender studies from the University of Texas at Austin, and currently Ph.D student in Social Welfare at University of Hawaii at Manoa. Over the past 18 years, she has been a key member for initiating programs for marginalized women and children in Indonesia. She provided supports for survivors of human trafficking, refugees, and asylum seekers, including women, children, and disabled people. She assisted survivors with accompaniment, emergency support, shelter, legal support, and helping them to prepare for a new life, and reintegrating victims with their families.


Hasriadi Masalam
Works on issues of rural education, youth as changemakers, rural development, capacity building, and knowledge management for two decades. He holds a PhD in the sociology of adult education and development from the University of Alberta, Canada, and a master degree from SIT Graduate Institute, VT, USA. Hasriadi is a co-founder of ININNAWA, a federation of popular social action NGOs, working on rural transformation, traditional market revitalization, literacy and education, and publication on local culture. Hasriadi has contributed to more than dozen publications distributed in Indonesia, Europe and North America.


Buyung Ridwan Tanjung
An activist in labor movement and human rights issues since 1995. He did his undergraduate study at the Faculty of Law Universitas Sebelas Maret Solo (UNS) in 1999, and received his license as an advocate/lawyer in 2002. In 2008, he pursued a graduate study and obtained an LL.M/Master’s Degree in Law in International Law of Human Rights program at Utrecht University, the Netherlands. Besides handling cases in court, he also writes for mass media, facilitates workshops, speaks at many seminars, and teaches in universities. He was appointed as an ombudsman commissioner by local government in Province of Yogyakarta during 2011- 2014. Today, Buyung is a senior advocate and legal consultant in the Disability Law Centre – OHANA INDONESIA.
