Students’ writing competition was a collaborative work with MILAP, a local NGO working on migration issue. This writing competition was aimed to understand students perspective about how the left-behind children of labor migrants dealing with their everyday life during the pandemic.
The competition was divided into two age categories: 13 – 15 years and 16 – 18 years. Students wrote narrative based on their personal experiences, stories from the people they knew, and news media. It was a national competition that involved reviewers from Universitas Sanata Dharma, SCN-Crest, MILAP, and KITA to grade the writing.
Selection process was challenging. Participants submitted their writing to the selection team by July 20, 2020 through email or WA. To give access for students with limited resources, selection team allowed participants submitting in a hand writing format and made picture of it for submission. Selection team contacted participants to know the creative process of writing and to make sure the originality. Then, the reviewing process were conducted to decide the five winners from each categories.
Students’ writing competition winners received certificate of recognition and educational support in form of pulsa donation.
