Plastic trash has been problem as a major pollution in many rivers in Indonesia. Haryani Saptaningtyas Ph.D presented that there are community based activities to manage plastic trash in many rivers from west Java to East Java. However, the initiative to manage the trashes from river could not compete the number of people who use rivers as a dumpster. She shared how people threw big objects such as mattress, sofa, or closet in the rivers during her fieldwork in west Java. Giving info session on protect rivers from trash to the people living nearby rivers is crucial, but this is a challenging task. River governance should also put attention on trash management. The lack of dumpster along the rivers was the reason for people leaving their trash in the rivers.
The online discussion session on February 15, 2021 was ended with several recommendation: Research on the river culture and communities to inform possible policies and actions in local areas. This is a big home work for KITA
